Is my cruise control factory? I'm curious... (long)

Hey, all,
I'm here again with another little pesky question, that being whether or not my cruise is factory or not.
My turn signal (directional) + cruise lever is not shaped like the one in my owner's manual -- my 900S is an '84 model. Instead of being squarish with a wide sliding switch for cruise, mine is a rounded stalk with a narrow slider. Also, my cruise actuator is under the hood and sits on left (US driver's side) fender and has a cable going to the throttle arm ON THE THROTTLE BODY. Mine does not have a chain-type mechanism that pulls on the gas pedal arm from under the knee bolster like I've read so much about on this BB.
Is this a dealer added cruise setup? It works fine and looks okay, just nothing like any Haynes or Bentley picture I've seen. I'm just a little worried that when my switch goes out (hopefully a LONG time away) that I'll be able to get a correct one for it.
TIA,
Micah in NC
