I love my 86 900, it runs fine after 220,000 miles (though it needs work on a few things which I can't do myself). Putting 200-300 dollars a month into repairs and purchases (ie. tires, alternator, brakes) over the last five months probably wasn't the smartest -- if I hold onto the car, that will likely continue (ie. I need a vent fan, maybe a tie rod too). Add to the mix an eleven month old for whom I cannot find a good front-facing car seat that will fit, and it looks like its time for a new car.

I can't afford new Saabs. I don't think I want to spend real money on a used car because I'll blow my wad and then worry about repairs. For the first time in my life, I'm thinking new car.

If you had twenty grand to spend on a new car, and needed a wagon or SUV-type, what would it be? I'm thinking Honda CR-V or Suburu -- where do you go after loving your Saab?
