newbie brake pump question

I have a 93 900S with 130k on it. A few weeks ago my anti lock and brake fluid light went on. I took it in and was told that the brake pump/abs pump, they are combined?, had tested bad and the only remedy was to replace it for $2000. Not wanting to spend that much, I brought it home to decide what to do. One day, after idling for about 10 minutes the lights went off and the brakes have worked fine since then. I asked the garage if they had any other thoughts and they said no, “just be happy” The only thing is that when I start the car in the morning it takes 30 seconds (give or take 1 or 2, I have timed it) for the brake and anti lock lights to go off. However, this only occurs when I start the car after it has been parked for an hour or more. If I turn it off and then start it immediately, ie. when I get gas, the lights go off immediately. Also, my clutch, replaced about 25k ago, seems to go from “soft” to “hard”. I haven’t been able to find a good pattern for this though.
Could these two things be related or am I just crazy? I feel that something else, perhaps in the hydraulic system, is causing this but no one has been able to give me any good insight. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
