Same thing here- Posted by IrieTom [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Jerky Acceleration, Micah D., Wed, 23 Jan 2002 22:15:21 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My car did the exact same thing for the 1st time as I was driving to the airport for a two-week stint on the other side of the continent in the middle of december. Since then, I've returned home and driven it for a few thousand miles, refilling the tank whenever it got to 1/2 or so- never down to 1/4.
I'm certain that my car needs a pre-pump at the very minimum. I'm suspecting the main pump as well, at 208,000- who knows? The fuel filter has been there for 40,000 miles, so that's getting replaced as well.
What should I look for when I replace the pre-pump and the filter? Should I fit a fuel pressure gauge to determine the health of the main fuel pump, or would it be more cost-effective to just replace the pump?
Until I get a few days off in a row, I'll just keep the tank topped off...
