I just bust the rusted circlip off in pieces with a small screw driver. Just below the circlip is a small hole that passes through the lever. Install a Jesus clip the same size as the one that retains the U bolt on the front brake calipers of the early 900. Volvo 240 uses the same size Jesus clip to retain its front brake pad retaining pins too. With the use of the Jesus clip you can rapidly get in there and do what you need to do the next time.
