Hesitation since I washed the engine compartment?

Last week I got the idea of washing my engine compartment - and did with a low pressure spray and various household cleaners. I started it up afterwords and all was fine. I let it run about 20 minutes to try and evaporate any water that may have been hanging around. (the temps here are ranging for 20 - 40 degress lately). The morning driving to University it started hesitating really bad! I finnally pulled over and as I suspected there was a nice amount of water in the distributer cap. I dried it out and was on my way.
Ever since that day though I now need to warm my engine up for about 5 min before I can drive it and then it's ok in vacuum, but really pulsates in the boost? I changed wires and plugs and distributer cap off my 9000t which never hesitates under boost but it didn't do anything. Maybe I should try buying these parts new but something tells my that's not my problem. Any suggestions would be great. A specific spot water hangs out and causes problems (I checked and my airbox is dry) - or could I have wrecked my coil? Also the wires that attach to the hall effect sensor broke so I just twist tied them together for now - are they extremely sensitive wires?
-Thanks again guys
-Mark
