I try to wash it at home when it is above or slightly above freezing but if it is to cold I go to one of the self-serve pressure washing bays. The high pressure will not destroy the top...just don't leave on critical areas too long.
First I rinse the car, then take the foaming brush and drizzle the soap all over the car....don't touch the car with the brush. Then take a clean terry cloth towel and gently wash the gook off, then rinse again including wheel wells and undercarriage. Then dry it with some more clean towels. I even bring a spray bottle with some diluted simple green to clean wheels and tires. Believe me...it has not hurt my top or scratched the paint on either one of my 900's. I do this at least once a week when it is real nasty outside.
