I'm going through this right now with my 1992 Convertible.
The back seat bottom is not easy to repair. For the life of me, I can not figure out how this seat was made. Fixing that seam will require significant work to get at (assuming it's constructed the same as the 1992). After many hours in bewilderment, I took the rear seat to a reupholstry shop who is apparently working on it this week. They quoted $300 to condition (letting it sit two days with Lexol conditioner on it)/clean/restain (only a few areas)/restitch the back bottom and upright sections. I'll let you know how it turns out.
The front seat bottoms had been replaced with vinyl and in the process the heated seat wires were cut (on purpose), which I've since repaired. The vinyl doesn't look bad, but I would have prefered leather. The front seat backs are original and need attention. They're not too difficult to remove, as long as you remove the head rest screw which is accessible from the front side, under the seat cover, near the top, beneath the foam. Note: the Bentley manual simply states "remove headrest". (I ripped one off on my 86 and found out the hard way about the screw). You will probably need to re-sew the fabric that holds the contour wires in place. On a previous front seat project, I (actually my wife) sewed the wires to the seat fabric with thread - it seems to work well.
