The speed of rotation and magnitude of the out-of-balance from the heavy side of the clamp are relatively small. If it were at a larger distance from the axis of rotation or faster, it would be much more noticable. In amongst all of the other vibrations we get from our drive trains, it's small potatoes and pretty well damped out by the motor mounts.
I suspect that SAAB used the hose clamp was the experience of needing to check the right side drivers for lube loss relatively often. (I wonder if 9000 inner drivers use hose clamps.)
But I agree with you that it would better to have a traditional crimped clamp from a balance viewpoint.
