Yes, they're safer in that respect. But I meant maintenance and durability. Also, with the parking brake in the front, you miss all the u-turn and snow fun of a rear brake system. I was used to the rear setup and landed in a ditch with my first 99 when it started to slide on ice and I tried to pull it out with a rear brake twist. The front wheels locked and I couldn't do anything any more. You see, most cars have the parking brake in the rear. Besides that, I just don't like the look of these brakes. They're heavy and clumsy. Just think of the weight of that yoke! And then I once took one apart. Absurdly complex, that makes them prone to wear and incidents. I wouldn't call that safety.
