A banjo bolt has a hollowed out core that allows the passage of fluid through it, then out a hole drilled perpindicularly to the bolt. A fitting is slid over this hole & the fluid, in turn, flows through it.
Changing your fuel filter is simple but messy because pressurized gas sprays all over the place when you loosen the bolts. You can minimize this by running the car, pull the fuel pump fuse and wait until it dies.
Only tools you need are some metric open end wrenches (don't recall sizes). A Vice Grips can be very handy for removing the old filter, and have several old rags on hand, too. Wear crappy clothes.
Use a Bosch fuel filter and ***buy new washers**, which have rubber on them that will have deteriorated and could cause leaks if you re-use them.
