You can do the r/r in 2 hours first time out. First disconnect battery negative cable to avoid sparks and then wires from starter. You do not have to remove the plastic clutch cover, just remove one (or two bolts?) bolts from its rim so that you can bend it back enough to get a wrench on the bolt heads. You can bend the cover as much as you need without fear of breaking it.
To remove the nuts from the starter it is a little tricky working under the intake runners, but with a couple of extensions you can loosen the nuts. the starter then falls loose and can be removed from under the runners. I think you have to remove an intake runner support bracket, but not a big deal.
The only hard part about putting the new one in is threading the nuts on the bolts. I used a forcepts to reach between the intake runners and hold the nuts to get them started, and then i turned the bolts from under the clutch cover. I would work over a clean floor or some newspaper so you can find the nuts if you drop them!
