Tried silicone, worked OK but silicone lube isn't intended for metal on metal. Tried Amsoil multipurpose spray lube (wax based), worked well until it got cold, at which point anten jammed. Clean with brake cleaner works well, also WD40.
Now using wet lube for bicycle chains. Note, this is a wet lube, not a wax lube (these cont to be very popular for cycling, but would prob gum up in cold like the Amsoil did). 2oz bottle, keep with a rag in trunk, ~$5 any bike shop.
