There's a spacer approx 1/8" thick and a stack of 3-4 shims. What usually happens is they stick to the inner race of one bearing or the other then fall into the parts washer. The reassembly guidance is that when the second bearing is pressed on with 3 tons of force, there should be zero endplay and no rolling resistance. It's detailed exquisitely in the Saab trans manual. I've never had one not go back together perfectly with the existing shims even when changing bearings. I've also moved the shim stack from one to another (the guy lost them as above) and hit it right on the nose first pass. This would indicate that a lot of them have pretty similar clearance to shim. Look around for yours or drop me a line
