Depending where you live, you may have the "pick your own" style parts yard where you do all the dirty work. They usually have them layed out in rows, on blocks of some sort, divided into groups either foreign or domestic. As far as establishing a relationship - I suppose there are yards and owners who do have some sort of email or phone list with known customer preferences. They also "refresh" the yard weekly, moving methodically through the rows. Some refresh less. Finding "gold" is a matter of visiting at least once a week. That way you have first pickings of a clean bumper, an entire spotless interior, a set of four wheels, near new brakes and rotors, guages, knobs, relays, hoses, lightbulbs...
