I did some engine work this past Sunday. On general principle I usually keep a shop rag of some sort tucked into the left side fender well, not too far from the air intake snorkle (the side upper chassis version). Over the year since I've been doing this, the rag has always stayed in it's place. This afternoon when I popped the hood to do some tinkering, I had a surprise - the snorkle had sucked more than half the rag inside itself! I have a good guess when that happened. When finished with the engine work the night before, I took a drive to test the new oil temp sensor. After a torturous and unnecessarily slow 4 mile drive along a curvy canyon road because of a large pick-up truck that wouldn't yield to myself or a new Mustang just behind it, the road finally leveled out and widened into 4 lanes. As the car in front of me changed lanes to pass the truck, with me not far behind, the truck swerved aggressively to keep us from passing! It was obvious we had a class A jackass situation here. The Mustang shot around the truck with horn blaring and sped off, with the pickup fast on it's tail! I too was ticked and also became concerned for the Mustang driver, so I leveled the pedal in an attempt to keep up. Sad to say I was no match, but it must have been during that wot period of time that the rag got sucked into the snorkle. I watched ahead of me as the truck tailed the Mustang as close as it could. We all met at a major intersection a short while later with the two of them side by side exchanging "words." My thinking at the time was that if there was an escalation of action beyond words, I was gonna make sure the Mustang driver knew he had back-up. At the least I was a witness to the truck driver's inflamatory and dangerous behavior. Pulling right beside the punk truck driver, I rolled down my passenger side window and got his attention by loudly calling him a lowlife a**hole (a favorite of mine). With two drivers now hollering at him from two sides, he looked dazed. As my turning lane moved ahead, I could see the look of bewilderment on his punk face.

The temp sensor? Seems to work fine, but reading a bit on the cool side, which can perhaps be caused by the cooler than normal outdoor temps. We'll see what happenes when the ambient air warms up.
