Leather seat repair.. what kind of thread??

I thought my leather seats on my 91 900S were perfect... until I saw this little area with broken thread. Oh well, it's only a very small area yet and I've just printed out a very handy 4-page document that details the removal of leather seat upholstery (front and back). I've included the URL below just in case anyone needs it.
However, I'm not planning on replacing the leather.. this is expensive and the leather on my seats is fine, really--I just need to resew a portion of the seat! I don't what the bes kind of thread to use is, though. I've rummaged around my mother's sewing things and all of the thread she has (even for quilting, which she says is quite strong) is pretty easy to break with my hands. This just doesn't seem like it will pass muster out in the "harsh driving conditions of the real world."
I'm sure some people have repaired their seats on their own before--what did you use for thread and where would you suggest I find it?
TIA,
Tim B.
