You'll need to adjust the shifter again. Then the shift linkage is properly adjusted, the shifter contacts the shift lever contacts the reverse switch properly.
Townsend imports site is down right now, but when it's back up, use this link to get to the page.
In a nutshell the procedure is this (You've probably done this, but it's worth a second look.):
Put the car up on jackstands.
Take the console off. In front of the shifter assembly there's a small alignment hole.
Put the shifter in 3rd gear.
Go underneath and loosen the shift linkage slip joint.
Make sure that the slip joint moves easily.
Jam the shift linkate all the way back (under the car - that puts it all the way into 3rd.)
Get a drill bit of the same size as the aforementioned alignment hole. (maybe you should do this earlier)
Move the shift lever until the hole in the shift linkage is visible through the alignment hole and drop the drill bit into it.
Go back underneath and make sure that the shift linkage is still in the 3rd gear position.
Tighten the slip joint.
Pull the drill bit, turn the ignition to RUN and see if the reverse lights work when the shifter is in reverse.
