There's good information on this website about it, and on the Townsend site, and in Bentley. I relied on all 3, when i did mine last week. You need to move the airconditioning out of the way. Some say work from below, some from above, I did some from below and some from above.
I ended up replacing the seals, which are very cheap, and the pully -- which was just under $150, I think. You can definitely do it, but it helps to study the project with these resources thoroughly, before you begin.
You'll need a breaker bar and sawed-off socket.
Should save you about $400-500 in labor, though, if you do everything correctly the first time.
