Even my stylish 1990 SPG becomes quite a hauler when that backseat goes down. I used to think the hatchback was a little unnecessary, but after hauling a full size desk without hassle I thought again. Heck, even without dropping the seat there's enough room to put a couple hockey bags in the trunk and not even meddle with the cargo shelf.
