so a couple weeks ago, i noticed that my 90 900t (175k) developed a slight miss under certain conditions. namely, it would only miss when at idle and with a warm engine. it was not very noticable in the car, but if i stand around the tailpipe, the normal smooth sound is randomly interrupted by small coughs. my first thought was an ignition problem, but i replaced the cap/rotor/plugs when i did the head gasket about 8k ago... new wires also didn't do the trick. so today, randomly decided to pull the PCV nipple out of the manifold while the car was running, and a steady stream of air puffs out. air also puffs out of the oil filler tube if i open it up. off idle, no miss is detectable, and the car runs great. mileage about 26-27 mpg (w/ studded snows), compression test tonight w/ cold engine gives 140 120 120 130. did i screw up the head gasket job? or are these compression numbers low enough that all the air blowing out of the valve cover is coming from blow-by? or is there something else? arghhhh...
