I have a spare engine/trans in my car now, and I'm trying to get some resistance on the clutch pedal. I have a minivac, so I hooked that up to the loosened clutch bleed nipple and I sucked about 5 inches worth of fluid into the hose, as in the fluid came out about 5 inches into the hose, then it wouldnt suck any more. I pumped it and pumped it until there was as much suction as the minivac could create, but the fluid in the hose would move no more.
The clutch pedal is still lifeless. Am I doing something wrong? I have never bled a clutch before. Perhaps the fact that this spare engine/trans/clutch sat for about 8 months in my garage caused some dryness or other problem in the clutch mechanisms? Any ideas? Please 8^)
