Trail braking is used to UPSET the car. Works great for some cars and worse for others. Never done it in the saab, but when entering a sharp corner at a fairly high rate of speed you jump on the brakes thus shifting the weight of the car and wham! The car lets loose. It's fun as hell to watch someone do this who's experienced at it. They have competitions on tracks where people are timed at how long they can push a car around a corner in a drift. Porsches are great at doing this. Go into a corner, slip the clucth, car gets sideways, hammer the gas until the car starts drifting(4 wheel) and feather the throttle on and off to keep the car drifting as long as possible. These guys are doing it at any where from 60-100mph or more.
Some peple trail brake just a little to keep the car's balence in keel. While coming into a corner, you keep the throttle on, while braking with your left foot. This is great for turbo's, keeps the boost up. Rally drivers are great at this.
