I'v made that same modification to my 88 convertable. After being fed up with the battery kissing my turbo, I mounted it in the trunk on the rear left side. I made a nice encloser that looks factory, and used 1/2 thick rubber mat to dampen vibration. works great! I could never figure out how such a genious car company would put the most delicate part next to the HOTTEST part on the car. The warning labels on most batteries even state to keep it away from extreme heat or flame???@@@**!! Saab has done some strange things, including the Pep Boys style 5 spoke wheek on the Viggen intstead of the bad ass 3pc BBS wheel that they thought would be cooler on a family station wagon??!!@#**??? Whatever.
