Tournament time in hockey? Fix car later!!!
Your Bentley manual will explain most everything.
Hang in there, you will solve the problem. A standard 5/8" spark plug socket should work, or just get a 5/8 deep socket. But without the foam liner you will have to fish the plug out. A trick is to just loosen the plug with the socket and then stick a piece of tubing over the plug to hand loosen and pull out.
Bougicord wires will probably be better than the ones they stuck in there, but see if you can solve the problem by eliminating any pressure leaks.
Don't forget the tip that someone else gave you about checking the front motor mount. I think on 1990's the u-bracket over the mount will prevent the distributor from hitting the hood, but I'm not 100% sure, so better check it out. Your symptom of one hard stutter in 2nd and less in higher gears is a clue, because the engine will tilt back more in lower gears with a broken mount. Another clue, do you feel the engine move in the shift lever when you punch it?
It takes 2 minutes to inspect mount, have a friend partially engage the clutch in 1st gear with e-brake set tight, while you look under the hood to see if the engine lifts up 1/2 inch or so at the radiator end. If it does, your front engine mount is shot. You can wait on this, but do not accelerate hard until you do. Replacement is easy. You need to remove turbo plumbing(by then you'll be a pro) and the radiator fans(unplug electrical connectors, then 2 torx screws at top come out and one at bottom that just needs to be loosened so you can pull fan up and out).
Then raise engine slightly with a jack. Use jack in trunk with a piece of wood between jack and oil drain plug area of engine. The wood will prevent cracking the case. Lift engine slightly and unbolt the engine mount and replace. whole job about 1 1/2 hours.
Good luck on the rink.
