My 900 saves my life again

I live in a small mountain community which has one of the highest drunk driving rates in the nation. Driving home from a friend's house last night, I'm following this blue ford, early 80's, truck. I'm following him at the usual distance for 10 miles or so at around 60. All of the sudden, he just lays on the brakes, locks up the rear end, and spins off the road. I step on the binders, and, once again, the big Brembos slow the car with amazing speed and smoothness, the right rear chirped, but never locked up, and I drove around him. I write because I have been thinking about either leasing a 2002 9-3SE buying a 94 or 95 se turbo at the end of the summer, but sometimes I feel like there are things on my 87 900S that could not possibly be made better. One of these, of course, is the brakes. I love mine, I've never locked them up, thet're so smooth. I am afraid of ABS since I crashed a Subaru Forester in a stiuation I knew my Saab could have handled. Anyway, I'm ready for a new car, as my 87 is showing her age, and I was just wondering if they possibly could have made the 900 better, because sometimes it seems just soo perfect. (but when you could lease a new 9-3SE for how much you're paying to keep an 87 on the road, the new car bug bites, you know?)
