I was in the same jam. I used a short curved tip pry bar(old screw driver that I bent) and applied pressure between each finger. I used a tine from an old leaf rack that I cut into 3" pieces as a spacer. Bend each piece to conform to the curve of the clutch. Depress one finger at a time as you insert the spacer. Turn the clutch by hand untill spacer is completely inserted all the way around. To depress the new clutch to insert the spacer I placed a piece of plywood with a towel on it below the car. The clutch was placed on this and a small block of wood was placed in the center of the clutch. I then used the car jack to raise the car on top of the clutch untill the fingers were depressed all the way and inserted the spacer. After everthing was put together, including new slave cylinder it needs to be bled. To bleed you need to pressurize the reservior untill no are comes from the bleed valve. You can do this by purchasing a 1-1/4 inch expansion and removing the bolt and disks. Tapper the bottom of the plug so it fits in the cap hole to the reservior. Buy a couple of tire stems (you'll screw up at least once) and cut the bulb off the end. place the stem thrue the bottom of the plug (the end you tapperd). tap this into the top of the reservior. Use a bicycle pump and press it up, just enough to get flow. Don't empty the reservior or you have to start all over again.
Drop a line if you have any questions.
