I have an '86 900s with 44k miles on it. Purchased from original owner, and in excellent condition. There are, however, some running problems. I know that I have at least 1 exhaust leak, but I can deal with that for now (it's right before the first muffler). The big issue is idle/stalling.

I have checked all of the smaller vaccum lines with a pump, and they are fine. My symptoms are that when I start it (more in warm weather, but with the car cold), it tends to stall right afterwards...before I can even get it into gear.

When I do get it started, it usually idles low (500). The low idle has occasionally caused it to stall when I come to stop signs, however other times, it will dive down pretty low like it's going to stall, but then shoot back up to over 1200 for a second or two.

As I look under the hood, I find the engine rumbling quite signifigantly (due to the low idle). There is a steady, loud "hiss" coming from the AIC side of the intake manifold. I sometimes think that I may have a leaky intake manifold gasket. When I give it gas, the "hiss" goes away, but then it comes right back when the throttle closes. I have gone over the possibility that there's just a leaky hose going to the AIC, and I intend to check it out, but I was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions.

One more small problem is that my throttle dashpot seems to stick in. If I hold the throttle out for about 3 seconds, it pops out...and it catches the throttle correctly afterwards.

Any advice would be greatly welcomed...thank you.
