I assume it's the engine that's making the noise. Make sure your oil level is OK. With the car warm and idling, look at the oil pressure warning lamp - make sure it isn't flickering. Turn the car off, then to ON, but don't start it - make sure the oil pressure warning lamp works. Low oil pressure can cause engine noises. The oil pressure warning lamp isn't a great tool, but it's there.
Get a couple of feet of garden hose, or any other flexible hose, and hold one end to your ear while you move the other end around the engine compartment. This will help isolate the sound. It might be from the cam area of the engine, but it could also be just a noisy fuel injector, or the fuel damper failed, or there's a defect on one of the belts.
