what year? sounds like car is in limp home mode. that means the ecu is seeing a faulty condition it cannot correct. your amm could be bad, o2 sensor faulty, or a vacuum leak. i would lean towards a vacuum leak initially, you'd be surprised where you will find them (i.e. cracked leaking hoses, ruber grommets for plastic nipples in intake manifold, etc.). you can replace all the grommets and hoses, or you can wrap electrical tape around the fitting and take up some of the slack in the grommets. can also use hand pump to find leaky hoses. if you haven't touched any of the setting (timing, throttle switch, etc.) i wouldn't go making chaes there. things just don't go out of whack unless messed with. i would place bets on vacum leak. good luck.
