My ignition cylinder died. It just turns round and round. So I took everything apart, and to put a new one in is going to cost $60 just for the part. I am thinking..... why not just put some nifty looking switched and lights and stuff from radaio shack in in place of the ignition switch and cylinder?
Well I went down to Radio shack and of course theyve got all sorts of cool switches that light up nean blue and stuff, look really cool. But the problem is NONE OF THOSE CAN HANDLE THE VOLTAGE. Doh!!! The only ones they had there that would work were these big gay cheap looking ones that have a stalk about 3 inches long and look like they control the choke on a lawn mower. Thatll look real nice on my console.... not.
I'm probably going to bite the bullet and buy a new ignition cylinder. That way I know I will pass inspection. Dont know if they check the ignition and stuff, but they might.
As for getting those three funky nuts off, I used an exhaust grinder on a 10mm socket. I ruined a 12mm in the process (turned out to be too big, so I tried the 10mm).
After cutting the three slots in the 10mm, it worked perfectly (though I had to hammer it on a tiny bit). I was proud of myself for not having to purchase the special tool.
