All right, so about a week ago I changed spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor on my '85 SPG (16v turbo). The car was running OK before, after the change it runs on 3 cylinders. It seems to be consistently missing on #1.
Through the process of elimination, I know that the parts I replaced are all OK, the car is getting fuel and spark on every cylinder.
Interestingly enough, when I move the spark plug wires on the distributor cap 180 degrees, i.e. move every wire to the post directly across from where they were, the car runs fine, all 4 cylinders fire and it runs smoothly. Problem there is that the car will not stay running at idle, the engine races, then slows down, then dies. I assume this is because the computer is confused by the 180 I did on the wires.
Any ideas or insights?
TIA
Ben
