It could be one of a few things: vacuum leak, dodgy oxygen sensor, or clogged fuel filter.
Are you inclined to DIY?
Start with the cheap things - vacuum lines and rubber bushings that hold the vacuum nipples to the intake manifold and valve cover. If you can turn the vacuum nipples freely and even pull them out, these need to be replaced. They're a few bucks each from the sponsors.
If the vacuum lines haven't been replaced since the car was new, it's time to renew them. 3.5 mm silicone vacuum line is about $1US/per foot at speed shops like NOPI. Plain old rubber ones are about $0.10 a foot at chain stores. I'm partial to the silicone, but rubber ones will do fine. (take one off, cut off the same length of new and put the new one in the same place.)
Fuel filoter runs about $15US from one of the sponsors (IIRC). It's a slightly messy job but doable by a DIYer.
Take a look at those and, if there's no change, we'll talk you through the rest.
