First, remove the center console: Pry out the black acordian-style spacer, undo the two screws below, pop the sunroof switch out and disconnect, remove ashtray, undo the 10mm bolt behind it, undo the four screws on the sides that secure the near part of the console to the part closest to the firewall, dislodge the near part of the console from the dash and push both near and far part of the console to the right to get them out of the way. You'll have to undo the ashtray light. With luck, you won't need to undo the wiring to the equalizer (if you have one).
Next, remove the trim piece below the steering column. You'll find a plastic twist-in fastener on the bottom, and two torx-head screws on either side behind the steering wheel.
Finally, remove the three bolts that secure the bolster. One requires a 13 mm socket and it is in the middle on the inside. The ashtray bolt goes into its end. The two bolts from the engine side of the firewall are hidden behind some wires and are hard to see. Both take a 10 mm socket on a long extension. The left bolt is aft of the fuse box below the hood hook. Push the wires to the side to see it. The right bolt is in the equivalent position aft of the power steering reservoir, also hidden behind wires.
The bolster can now be wiggled free and removed. Just slide the ashtray light out through the hole provided in the bolster.
