what's the trick to seat springs?

How do you get the springs onto the seat platform, or into the little holes along the edge of the seat? I'm sure this question is answered if you buy the kit, but I've just pulled a platform from my parts car, so I don't have any instructions. These springs turn out to be very easy to bend out of shape, so I'm trying to be a little gentle, and I can't get the whole business pulled tight. What's the trick?
