In January '99, I was the best man at the wedding of my friends Chilo and Renee in Atlanta. A couple of the other guys in the wedding party had flown down from Montreal in a Cessna owned by a friend of theirs who they "hired" for a week. The day of the wedding, after nursing some hangovers from the bachelor party the night before, we had a few hours to burn before the late afternoon ceremony, and the pilot suggested that we go for a cruise in his plane.
I think it was a Cessna 160 or 170, and that it was rated at approximately 160 horsepower. It was a 4-seater, and I was lucky enough to get the co-pilot's seat and was able to take the controls for 5 or 10 minutes or so once we were aloft. We were flying VFR (visual flight rules) and got lost for a while, ironically using a road map to figure out where we were. For a while, we were joking that we would have to land in the church parking lot if we couldn't find the airport.
I believe that a SAAB 900 has more substantial doors than a Cessna, but they are similar in size and configuration- I doubt that the back seat was as comfortable in the plane as my car. I was definately impressed that the plane cabin was the same size as the passenger compartment in a 900.
I think that small planes are way more fun than big airliners.
