My daughter totaled her 88 900 a few months ago, so I bought her an 88 900T, black/tan with 5-spd, 175k miles. No rust, rebuilt trans, tons of receipts and local owners. I was mainly concerned about accident damage, rust (being in the Midwest), and the trans. While the car is not perfect, for $2k I felt it was a heck of a deal, and after about 5k miles, so far it has proven to be. Oh.. the PO threw in a good set of SPG wheels too! I didn't have to think long about this one, the only hard choice was if I should give it to her or keep it for me! But watch for service history or ask where it was serviced at least, and perhaps get them to put it up on the hoist and look it over. Engines generally are good "forever" (based on my experience) with rare one that has overheated and gotten the head warped, or maybe needs a timing chain, not a bad thing to replace anyway. Watch the temp gauge to see if it stays cool, check the coolant to see if it looks fresh... stuff like this. But if well cared for none of these "red flags" should appear. If they do, either leave it or get an estimate and reduce the price by same.
