Thanks for the responses - all very helpful: RS, Anders, ToplessBeachCar, and KeithG, you all get A's! :-)
So I think my next step - possibly - is to rebuild the calipers & throw some new rotors on (btw, was told Balo rotors are closest to stock: true?). I say "possibly" because if this is a complex process, then I'd rather be safe & buy some rebuilts.
Looking at the exploded view of the caliper in my Bentley, the caliper looks pretty straightforward. So I need to get the rebuild kit, the usual chemical cleaners, some wire brushes for the external parts, & go.
What are the pitfalls? Special tools? I seem to recall reading that if the piston is scored, then it's all over but the trip to the scrap metal recycler? Should I replace the brake lines, too? Also figured I may as well tackle the fronts as well - anything different about rebuilding them?
Last, about Plan B - buying rebuilts: is a rebuilt a rebuilt a rebuilt? Anything to look out for?
