Crack above ash tray after new steering column?

I know that the lower dash has to be removed to do a steering column. Does the ash tray, cubby, area have to be removed also? I have a crack in the dash above the ash tray that I think the mechanic did when he threw it back together. It seems like he did a very sloppy job considering it was a Saab dealer service departent. The crack was not there prior to servicing.
If they did do this, among other things like forgetting to replace a few screws, things not fitting together perfectly etc. I'm going to call them on it. It seems like when one pays good money they should do quality work. I've gone to this dealer for 3 years and their work has always been high quality.
What do you think?
Thanks, Best Regards,
Tyler
