Clock works with no fuse. Huh?

Following on from last Thursdays argument with a Toyota, I had to take the instrument cluster out. Did this, put it all back together, only took an hour. Everything worked, OK?
Yesterday I put the dash speaker grille back in and the clock stopped, along with the interior lights, glovebox and tailgate lights.
The fuse, No 7 I believe, had blown. Replaced it and it blew as soon as it went in, no ignition on. I left the fuse out. Today still no clock, went for a drive, no clock. Parked for an hour or so, no clock. Drove back home and the clock worked. Parked up and it stopped. Drove around for a bit and it worked. Stopped to fill up with fuel and the clock stopped again while the ignition was off.
Still no interior lights, yet the clock works when the ignition is on yet there is no fuse. Yet everything worked until I put the dash speaker in. I have taken this out again and can't see any connections/wires etc that is could interfere with.
I don't understand these Swedish things.
