Warning - Clutch Master Cylinder Discovery confirmation

Have been having a heck of a time trying to get my new clutch to disengage. Finally, on a hint from another person here on the board, I pulled a stock clutch master cylinder from a junkyard car and compared it to the aftermarket one I put into my car about 6 months ago. While the body of the part was identical, the aftermarket part in my car had a plunger that was about 3/4 of an inch shorter than the stock part - keeping it from ever traveling the complete length of the bore and therefore not allowing my new clutch to disengage (the old clutch was worn enough that it just barely allowed it to work). I rebuilt the part from the junkyard car and now my clutch works flawlessly.
Just be aware that this "impostor" master cylinder is out there (FYI, it appears to have been the correct part a-la O'Reilley auto parts computer - so if you use O'Reilly for parts, just be aware). Anyone know what car this short-shaft cylinder is really supposed to go on?
