Your going to have to pull the carpet. There is no way to dry it out otherwise. I've pulled the carpet twice in my '94 conv. I was getting a deep puddle like yours in the rear passenger footwell. Lots and lots of water.
Best thing to do is pull the carpet and put the seats back in so you can still drive the car. This will ease the frustration of trying to find the leak and your carpet won't keep getting soaked.
Couple of quick things to check...
1) the fresh air intake under the hood. Notorious for getting plugged. Squirt some water in and see if the hose in the wheelwell is draining. If not milk it like a cow. All the crud will come out. Then vacuum out the inside of the box. These things plug and then as soon as the car moves the water will come into the car through the floor vents. I've watched it happen.
2) the quarter panel drains. Pull each rubber plug out(there are 3 on each side) Squirt in one of the holes with water and clean out the body panel well. These get plugged with leaves and gook that get between the body and the top.
After you do these things and get the car dry (without carpets) hose it done and I mean seriously hose it down. Better if someone sits inside while it is getting hosed down. Then you can trace the leaks.
I think I have solved my problem doing these things...(carpets were out a while...then put back in and it got wet again...then pulled carpet again...now that really sucks!...but since the car was ripped up I put in a perfect dash and replaced all vac lines inside the dash...now it's beautiful and dry!)
So....be prepared for some tedious work and driving around for a while without carpets...it's the only way.
Email me if you have any other questions...
