Before I started any mods I wanted to get the engine clean and tuned (sparks, wires, rotor, cap, vacuum hoses, ect...).

Had very noisy lifters, but Mobil 1 syn and a Bosch oil filter made a world of difference. I was about ready to get new rubber guides for the timing chain as I was sure the this was the cause for this much noise. I was shocked that an oil change saved me from a whole weekend of fustration...not to mention the Masters on TV.

Then I took my "homemade" boost gauge with a 60 psi pool presure gauge and 10 ft of tubing connected to the BPC to check my base boost (dumb male logic had me doubting it could be accurate measing from the intake hose before it reached the turbo although many posts said this was fine). Adjusted the wastegate from 2-3 psi to 5.5 psi. I had to turn the rod almost the rest of the length to get it here, so any thoughts on this would be appreciated...time for a new wastegate, other troubleshoots on why its at its end, ect.

Then I decided to clean the injectors, but before I took them out I wanted to run 2 gallons of 100 octane and the rest 91 (about 8 gallons) to see if this would get them a little cleaner. What a world of diffence. I tried my damndest to drop the fuel gauge as much as possible to burn as much fuel as I could. We had a storm front come in and before I fueled up I could notice a sluggish respone (low pressure front???) but after about 75 miles of really pushing it tonight the engine rev'd quickly, smoothly and efficientely on the local highways (from 65 to 105 I don't know if many of the "pony" boys would keep up...maybe wishful thinking on my new found HP increase :-) I would dare give them a length and the move ).

I am now starting to look towards tweaks to the APC. Before I do so, my CC is non operational and wanted to know if this would prevent any further increases..maybe the contacts underneath the dash could be looked at...

All in all, I want to thank everyone for all the info for a first time Saab owners new "wife"...who's got time to have relations with the Mrs. when there another lady in the gargage who needs my lovin'.
