We all learn lessons, sometimes the hard way. I'm about o do clutch job on my 87 900. Being the bearing expert that I am, I decided to save money on the slave & throwout bearing by going through my connections. I called BCA's tech support to ask if part #614080 was the entire slave assembly with release bearing. I was assured itwas, in fact , the tech guy claimed he had done this job 3 times, and would be no problem. I ordered the part, only to get JUST THE RELEASE BEARING. I called Tech service to tell about the mis-labeled part. The Tech guy this time said it was just supposed to be a bearing, even though the distributor price was well over $30.00. This ISO/QS9000 certified company was not concerned that they will be repeating the same mistake over & over.
The lesson is, by trying to save $20 or so, I now have all the headaches of returning parts, explaining why, and paying additional useless freight charges. The sponsors here all have the correct knowledge and are very reasonably priced.
