Mark,
As has been previously posted,
It's just not in any way economic to do what you are contemplating.
Every support system would need to be replaced. All the wiring, fuel pumps, computer, etc, etc.. to say nothing of the donor engine/tranny.
Don't worry about getting an SPG, there are plenty of previously salted turbo saabs for sale here all the time. You're coming to a sort of saab haven area, every time you look around you'll be sandwiched with other saabs in traffic, parked next to one, or if you're me, you have three parked out on grand ave. :)
Drive the 8v, buy a 16v turbo, don't think about converting.
I do believe Jerry does good work, he's over in uptown. He sold me a lower A-arm once. I did need to bring him back my bent one, so he could use it to put the car in bay 4 back together. He wears gloves while he works, and so do I. :)
