Having a working bypass valve is good, if yours is broken, this one will probably increase performance. Otherwise it will probably only last longer than a stock replacement. In a performance tweaked engine, one of these bypass valves will help ensure longevity under constant high boost pressures. You are only getting 11 ish PSI with your stock turbo, I would imagine. 14 PSI is I think about halfway through the red band.

The bypass valve is buried in a nest of turbo air routing ducts in the front of the engine bay, sort of right over the fresh air inlets and outlets. If you hear a hissing coming from the front of the engine bay, and you clamp off the vacuum line going to the bypass valve, and the hissing stops, it's a pretty easy clue to replace the valve.

DIY APC tuning of any kind is of course at your own risk. You can probably get more performance without too much risk. I did re-tune a box of my own, without any component replacement, just turning some pots. It did help, that car is now dead, but not because the engine stopped working. A more expensive aftermarket rebuilt APC is more desireable.

You will also want a 3.0 bar FPR if you are increasing turbo boost, so budget for that.
