of the good side. You fixed the trany whereas most of us would have paid huge $$$ to have someone else do it. The ignition switch is an abberation as it is a known 'it will fail' item and that Ranger really ticked the Saab! Fluid from top leaking out - no problem (other than the mess and cleaning it up) the top goes up and down faster manually anyway). You were within walking distance of a gas station, your buddy provided the beers and did have a solution to the tranny problem (but maybe didn't go quite far enough in the 'clean out all the broken stuff' department). AND you got to drive home in a convertible just like when you started out. You now have a car whose ignition switch will work for a long time. A real handle on the trany problem so all in all find the cause of the top's fluid leak (hopefully just a tube to fitting problem and not a top hydraulic cylinder failure) and be thankful nobody rammed the car while you were out getting gas!
OTH sorry to hear of your problems may they soon be over.
