A wild guess, but a car w/ that many miles is certainly not a lemon. Does it come w/ the maintenance records? Someone who kept records, probably cared for the car properly. Look for a receipt for head gasket replacement. If it hasn't been done, it will probably have to be done. The alloy used in '91-93 2.1L cylinder head started corroding once they added the coolant in the factory. It's about a $1300 repair, but A.) it may already have been done, B.) that would bring your cost for an otherwise very nice car to only $4300. Also, don't go to any mechanic, find a Saab specialist; these cars have many other ... ahh ... quirks. Last, in 5th gear, 3000rpm should get you about 75mph. Good luck!
