I switched from Red Line to Honda and I like the Honda oil better in many respects. It seems to give better cold (in the morning) shifting than Red Line MTL does. I would say though for practical purposes the differences are minimal. I switched because a.)Honda is less than half the price of Red Line and b.) Honda is easier to obtain (local Honda dealer) than Red Line which I have to order.
I switched to Red line from standard oil at 120,000 or so. The syncros were getting bad. I switched to Honda at 160,000. I now have 180,000 on the car, and I think it shifts better than it did at 100,000. The transmission shows no signs of giving up, and I am positive it is due to the Red Line and Honda oil.
So really, it's your call. I would vouch for either. But I will stick with Honda MTL because it has worked well for me.
Best Regards,
Tyler
