What an episode...after replacing the ingnition lock the car wouldn't start and I was at wit's end. Turns out the 12 yr old son wanted to join in the fun and "help" too...he was inspecting the fuses and took the #22 (relay/ECU) and put it in the spare holder...hence, it wouldn't start and the fuel gauge wasn't working, as a bonus I got my hairline to receded by 50%....(I checked the rest to make sure there wasn't more "help")
Anyway...I put the fuse back in took it for a spin and 1 mile down the road it went dead. I wasn't pushing it, only 40% in the yellow but it felt like the fuel cutoff kicked in, by the way the power had dropped, and the RPMs went to zero.
Here's what I diagnosed after pushing it back home:
#30 fuse--fuel pump = 0 volts ignition on...0 volts cranking
#22 fuse--Relay/ECU = 12 volts ign on and 12 cranking (approx)
Fuel Pump = 0 volts ing on........0 cranking
Background info: I've never really been able to hear the fuel pump..if I put my ear real close to the trunk I could hear some clicking. I jumped the car this afternoon to get it started the safest I could--pos to pos, neg to ground--but I've read this sometimes fries the ECU.
I'm about to tackle the ECU and relays, but before I do any thoughts where would be a hot spot? I'm biased it's the pump, but I don't want to overlook the obvious again.
Much thanks to Pat and Dave for getting me this far!
